Tom received an MS degree in Geophysics from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1981. He has been with GATS since its founding in 1986 and is currently the Chief Technical Officer.
Tom has over 40 years of experience in remote sensing, radiative transfer algorithm development and data analysis. He is co-author of the science data processing algorithms for SABER (Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry on TIMED) and SOFIE (Solar Occultation for Ice Experiment on AIM) and co-author of the codes used for radiative transfer and retrieval of geophysical parameters for HALOE (HALogen Occultation Experiment on UARS), CLAES (Cryogenic Limb Array Etalon Spectrometer on UARS), and LIMS (Limb Infrared Monitor of the Stratosphere on Nimbus 7). His current technical roles include leading the data analysis for SABER, providing technical expertise for a variety of initiatives including DWTS (Doppler Wind and Temperature Sounder) and HATS (High Altitude Thermal Sounder), and continuing development of SpectralCalc.
